The Start of an Idea
The idea was born out of me helping a woman with her bicycle at my local railway station every day up and down the stairs to change platforms. The rest is history as they say.
That said, and although the Bykramp appears a simple and a relatively straight forward design, it was not a simple step from idea to product.
Early ideas were based upon the simple ramps of channels or half pipes and the like. Searching the UK Intellectual Property Office web site (http://gb.espacenet.com) to see what existed in terms of current patents was certainly was an eye opener. I could see I was going nowhere.
What I needed was to set a challenging brief and attempt to meet it, so I spoke to my friend Nyg Dickinson and took if from there....
